The brief

Held from 19 to 28 April, the 19th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai) was the first physical A-class motor show held as scheduled this year. Themed ‘Embracing Change’, it showcased products from 1,000 companies and attracted 810,000 visitors.

Polestar, a Swedish electric car brand, appointed Pico to provide professional operational services for its Auto Shanghai presence, including developing a mobile app to boost audience engagement with the brand.

Insight

Polestar is fully committed to meeting carbon neutrality target and reducing carbon emissions throughout its supply chain and production processes. At Auto Shanghai, the brand used the Pico-developed interactive mobile app to engage with visitors and potential customers, getting its sustainability message across while enhancing its image and promoting sales at the same time.

Solution

Visitors could engage in the ‘carbon emissions reduction’ game after scanning the booth’s QR code with their smartphones. In the game, differently shaped bubbles represented materials with various concentrations of carbon dioxide. The aim for players was to eliminate as many bubbles as possible. On each game day, the top 10 players won a chance to receive free gifts.

Results

The booth attracted approximately 120,000 visitors.
